Terms of use of the Measure app
1. What the app does
The app:
- tests a phone's ability to measure its position with satellite systems (GNSS) and RTK corrections and expresses the result as a level (e.g. "sub-metre", "decimetre"),
- lets you measure points, lines and areas and compare a measured point with the cadastral map for orientation (corner check, Czech Republic and Slovakia),
- lets you test the phone's accuracy on a verified point and find the antenna position in the phone,
- optionally passes its position to other apps on the phone (Mock phone location); we are not responsible for how they use it.
The app is available in the countries of the European Union and in the United Kingdom.
2. Measurements are indicative – not a boundary survey
- The app's results are indicative. Accuracy depends on the phone, the surroundings (buildings, trees), phone placement, the availability and quality of corrections, the state of the satellites and other factors beyond our control.
- Accuracy figures (e.g. "h68") are a model estimate, not the verified accuracy of a particular point.
- The app is not a measuring instrument within the meaning of legal regulations, and its results are not the result of surveying work under Czech Act No. 200/1994 Coll.
- A corner check is not a boundary survey and does not replace one. Only an authorised land surveyor (in the Czech Republic: AZI, formerly ÚOZI) can mark out a property boundary with legal effect. The cadastral map itself has limited accuracy given by the quality code of the point.
- Slovakia: results are neither a demarcation of property boundaries nor a survey plan under § 6 of Act No. 215/1995 Coll. and do not replace a result authorised by a licensed surveyor and cartographer. Open data of the Slovak cadastre do not state the accuracy of boundary points, so for corner checks in Slovakia the app shows only the distance with a possible uncertainty, without a verdict.
- Do not rely on the results for decisions with legal or financial consequences (building a fence or a building, a dispute with a neighbour, buying land, submissions to authorities) without verification by a professional.
3. Safety when measuring
When testing outside, take care of your own safety and that of others. Do not place the phone on a road or anywhere it could cause an accident, do not enter other people's land without permission, and follow local regulations.
4. Third-party services
- The app connects to correction services (reference station networks) and other services (e.g. satellite orbit data, map data). These services are operated by third parties under their own terms. We are not responsible for their availability, accuracy or terms.
- If you enter your own login details for a correction service, you are responsible for being allowed to use them this way. The details stay encrypted on your phone and we cannot see them.
- Map and cadastral data (the app shows them on the map and under About the map):
- Czech cadastral map, orthophoto, addresses and parcels (RÚIAN) and survey control points: © ČÚZK (Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre), CC BY 4.0 licence,
- orthophoto and cadastre of Slovakia: © ÚGKK SR (Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Authority of the Slovak Republic), GKÚ Bratislava, NLC, CC BY 4.0 licence,
- base map: © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL licence; tiles OpenFreeMap · OpenMapTiles,
- terrain shading: © Mapterhorn (from open elevation data, incl. ČÚZK and Copernicus),
- Esri World Imagery satellite map: Powered by Esri; Esri, Maxar, Earthstar Geographics, and the GIS User Community.
4a. Account
- You can create an account by signing in with Google in the app under Settings → Account. An account is not required; without one your data stays only on this phone and, where applicable, on the server under the installation identifier.
- The account synchronises your measurements, projects and corner checks between devices. You are responsible for the security of your Google account.
- The profile photo from your Google account is shown only to you. If we ever offer showing it to others (e.g. in discussions), it will be only with your explicit consent.
- You can cancel the account at any time in the app or following the instructions at measure.my/delete-account. When the account is cancelled we delete all its data. Summaries in the phone leaderboard without location and without your identity remain.
- We may cancel an account that is misused (e.g. automated data downloads, circumventing limits, attacks on the service). We will warn you in advance where possible.
4b. User content
- Only signed-in users can rate, comment and report the condition of points, one rating per point or station.
- You are responsible for your content. It must not be offensive, unlawful or promotional and must not contain links or other people's personal data (names, number plates, faces in photos).
- For photos you upload you grant us a non-exclusive, free licence to show them in the app and on the Measure.my website, also after your account is deleted (as anonymous content). You declare that you are their author.
- Anyone can report content. We may hide or remove reported content and show the author the reason. Repeated breaches of the rules may lead to cancelling the account.
- After your account is deleted, your content remains public as "anonymous user".
5. Data and privacy
How we process personal data is described in the Privacy policy. Sharing test data is possible only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
6. Availability and changes
- We provide the app as is. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, freedom from errors or fitness for a particular purpose.
- We may change or update the app or stop providing it.
- Some features may be in testing (beta) and may behave unexpectedly.
7. Liability
- We are not liable for damage caused by relying on a measurement result contrary to section 2, nor for damage caused by third-party services (section 4).
- This limitation does not apply where the law does not allow it (e.g. injury to health or damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence).
8. Licence and intellectual property
- You may use the app for personal and professional purposes in line with these terms. Reverse engineering or circumventing its protection is prohibited to the extent the law allows such a prohibition.
- The app contains third-party software under open licences (e.g. RTKLIB/RTKLIB Explorer – BSD 2-Clause, MapLibre Native – BSD 2-Clause, Android Jetpack and Kotlin – Apache 2.0). Their list and licences are in the app under Licences.
9. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Czech Republic. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection given to you by the mandatory rules of your country of residence.
10. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We will inform you of significant changes in advance in the app; if you do not agree with them, you can stop using the app.
11. Who provides the app
The Measure app is provided free of charge by Robin Palička, a natural person, Czech Republic, email hello@measure.my, website measure.my ("we").
12. Contact
